The application of Nanoparticles in polymer films

Abstract (German)

The project investigates the application of nanoparticles coated on polymer films. A close collaboration between Perlen Converting, a leading manufacturer of advanced polymer films and the ETH Zürich is developping nanoparticle based solutions to functionalize polymer foils. Function can range from applications in food and pharmaceutical packaging to surface modification and protection. Whilst current nanoparticle research is mainly concentrated on particle manufacturing, the present project uses knowledge from most recent research at ETH and incorporates it in the product development at Perlen Converting. The project targets at delivering customer prototypes of functionalized foils within three years and is expected to result in a higly competitive product.
