Numerical and physical concepts in ray-tracing method, applied to the prediction of vehicle noise radiation

Abstract (English)

Mastering the acoustic radiation of engine compartments requires controlling variable parameters like location and quality of absorbent materials on the inside walls. Such procedure requires a) predictive schemes and b) material knowledge.a) For the acoustic prediction in mid-frequency range, the ray method could be adequate provided it is modified to be more rigorous in managing the wave reflections.b) Material modelling is the first required activity in complement to material characterization, for providing boundary conditions to noise simulation.
