Electromagnetic Spectroscopy: Solution of the Inverse Problem Related to Biological Materials
Abstract
(English)
The project aims to develop a non-invasive determination method for the dielectric micro depth-profile of the human skin by analyzing the response of an impedance spectrometer. In essence, the electromagnetic inverse problem is to be solved for skin. Before, in an inverse process, the dielectric depth-profile can be derived from the electromagnetic fields penetrating the skin, one has to solve the forward problem using numerical simulations. Thus an initial major project task is the development of an appropriate numerical model representing the relevant dielectric characteristics of the multi-layer skin system. This project is closely linked to the ongoing product development of the industry partner and in the larger context is relevant for a variety of Life Science monitoring applications.
