INVISION LT: Experimental Research and Application for New Generation, Full Digital X-Ray NDI-CT Technology

Abstract (German)

This project aims to develop methodologies and procedures to use industrial X-ray Computed Tomography (CT) as an integrated dimensional inspection and non-destructive evaluation tool in the product development and manufacturing process of high-tech near-to-net-shape super alloy components. Volumetric (3D) and slice-by-slice (2D) computed tomography will be technically and economically validated for lost wax models and final products. The results will be compared to traditional metrology and non-destructive inspection techniques and processes. These testing processes are redesigned for the cost-effective integration and full exploitation of the digital NDI-CT technology in the whole manufacturing process.
