SNAP-tag for selective labeling of fusion proteins in living mice.
Abstract
(English)
The development of methods for the selective labeling of proteins and biological structures inside living animals with synthetic probes for biological imaging is of central importance in life sciences and has potential applications in functional proteomics, developmental biology and cancer research. This project will investigate the potential of labeling and subsequent imaging of SNAP-tag fusion proteins within living mice. A key advantage of the use of the SNAP-tag for in vivo imaging would be the possibility to label it with synthetic probes ideally suited for in vivo applications such as near-IR fluorescence spectroscopy and magnetic resonance imaging.
