Abstract (English)	We propose an innovative approach based on flex-tensional multilayer ceramics, for the development of a new generation of piezoelectric transducers for ultrasonic medical tools. Relative to the existing products, the advantages will be an increased efficiency (lower drive voltage with added output), possibilities for new handpiece geometries, and new or extended functionalities (greater frequency and mechanical output flexibility). The proposed technology represents for EMS a significant strategic step for a long term consolidation of its leader position in its core activity.
