The project is aimed at the improvement of delamination stability and optimization of thermal conductivity of TBC for high-efficient turbines through optimization of fabrication process. Phase transitions and microstructure change in YSZ under combined action of high-temperature cycling, mechanical re-loading, aggressive gases, shrinkage and porosity increase due to sintering will be studied for TBC with different Y content, both as powders and coatings. Influence of impurities and additives will be considered. Studies of TBC exposed at different service temperature from 1100 to 1400 oC for different times will be carried out. Quantitative models will be elaborated for the changes in microstructure, internal stress, and thermal conductivity of TBC during service.
