Feasibility study: Improvement of the deformation and wear of the shot sleeve steel in the die casting of aluminium and magnesium alloys
Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Allemand)
Erosion and deformation of steels used to inject light alloys are large problems in the industry of die casting, because of the casting quality and machine down time. Increasing competition in this field, mainly related to the automobile industry, renders subsequent costs prohibitive. In order to increase life time of the shot sleeve steel an investigation of the causes of this wear is necessary. A liquid metal immersion facility will be built to study the evolution of steel under erosion conditions and electron microscopy will be used to understand the wear causes.
