Quantum Cryptography based point-to-point Secure Data Communication System (Phase I)
Abstract
(English)
Modern day information society relies heavily on storing and transferring data in digital form. Individuals could use it for personal communications and entertainment, government offices for storing documents, and most importantly, companies rely on digital communication for conducting their business. Data in digital form can be stored indefinitely, can be easily processed and accessed. However, without appropriate precautions, it can also be easily modified. Cryptography provides the means that is necessary to securely store and transfer data. In this project, a point-to-point secure communication system based on quantum mechanical principles will be designed. This system will be able to securely transfer data up to 70 km at a rate of over 1 Gbps using fiber optic connections.
