Aging mechanisms and numerical device physics of organic LEDs
Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Anglais)
Organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) successfully entered the display market and have attributes that make them prime candidates for future solid state lighting applications. However, besides all the advantages OLEDs offer, their commercial breakthrough is still hindered by an inadequate lifetime in comparison to light bulbs or inorganic LEDs. The goal of the project is to overcome this drawback by investigating aging mechanisms and further developing and validating a numerical optoelectronic device model, which shall become the basis for a design tool. The thorough qualitative and quantitative understanding of the device physics is crucial for optimizing the molecular design and synthesis approach in order to develop superior organic electroluminescent semiconducting materials.
