Hydrocarbon reservoir detection by integrating microtremor analysis and computational geodynamics

Abstract (English)

Hydrocarbon-bearing structures cause modifications of the geo-seismic background noise (microtremors). The physics of these modifications are studied using numerical models for wave propagation and finite element models for fluid flow. The models are incorporated into algorithms to reproduce signals provided by microtremor analysis, enabling data and model based hydrocarbon detection. The project partner will integrate the models in its commercial applications to enhance the geophysical information delivered to the oil & gas industry
