Wireless virtual studio for TV and HDTV production (Acronim: WVS_HDTV)
Abstract
(Deutsch)
The first and main objective of the project is to develop the equipments for a wireless digital link for TV production capable of compressing up to HDTV studio signals and supporting transmission bitrates up to 80 Mbit/sec. Such goals will require advances of the state of the art of DVB-T modulation technologies and embedded HDTV coding and decoding. The second objective is to develop a wireless digital bidirectional link characterized by relatively low bitrate, but an extremely high transmission robustness and ultra low end-to-end delay specifically adapted to the control signals of TV and HDTV production studios such as genlock, tally, remote control cameras and return video for digital TV/HDTV production. Such ¿special¿ link not only is an essential element for the deployment and extension of wireless digital TV-HDTV production for the appropriate coverage of the widest range of events, but also it is the missing element that can enable the upgrade of all functionality of existing (wired) studio and OB-van infrastructure to a full wireless operability.
