Development of procedures for assessing human exposure to electromagnetic radiation of base stations (BASEXPO)
Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Anglais)
The ever-growing number of base stations for wireless technology networks has caused public concern about potential adverse health effects due to permanent electromagnetic exposures. The lack of standardized procedures for exposure assessment has even increased this negative perception. The project aims to develop scientifically sound and technically feasible procedures to assess RF exposure in the vicinity of base stations, which satisfy the European Directives and Swiss non-ionizing radiation (NIR) ordinance. The outcome shall be transferred to standardization bodies for harmonization of evaluation guidelines for base stations. As a consequence, control authorities, network providers and their component suppliers will profit from faster and more simplified compliance procedures enabling highly effective network implementations. This will guarantee positive impacts for the Swiss wireless industry and will lead to increased acceptance from the public, reducing the number of objections and citizens¿ initiatives.
