Abstract

Very large video surveillance systems represent an emerging market segment that only few actors with innovative solutions can access. To reach key player position, solution providers must deal with interoperability and migrate to standard scalable video coding and interactive transport protocols. Moreover forensic applications require an increase of video spatial resolution to HD format. Forthcoming JPEG2000 and its extensions (e.g. Part 3, Motion JPEG 2000 and Part 9, JPIP) fit all these requirements and will be implemented on a dedicated hardware platform.
