Abstract

The Wobbe Index is a measure of the calorific value of a combustible gas. In this project we propose a technical solution for a low-cost robust Wobbe Sensor. This sensor is based on low temperature cofired ceramics (LTCC) with integrated signal processing, which measures the viscosity. The output signal of the sensor is used to optimize the combustion facility of modern gas burners. A further goal of the project is the realization of a product conception allowing low cost mass fabrication with a strong emphasis on technology transfer from academia to industry.
