Short description (English)

The study presented a policy research paper which develops an analysis of the economic dimension of mediating peace agreements. It also included the organisation of a half-day expert workshop which purpose was to present and discuss the findings of the paper.

Project aims (English)

This research aimed at reinforcing the understanding of the economic dynamics behind the success and failure of peace agreements. It explored how the availability of potential revenue sources to organise armed groups affects the strategies and processes of mediating internal armed conflict. The results can be taken into consideration for the methodological development of conflict prevention projects related to the subject and which the Political Affairs Division IV of the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs (PD IV) considers financing. PD IV was involved in the research and participated in the seminar.
