The project includes a pilot study prepared by the Watson Institute at Brown University (USA). The study will develop practical recommendations to both strengthen targeted sanctions and respect human rights and due process concerns in the design and implementation of Security Council sanctions

The objective of the exercise is to assess the topic and develop recommendations as to how the tool of targeted sanctions (particularly sanctions targeted against individuals, such as financial asset freezes and travel bans) can be strengthened by safeguarding internationally recognized standards of due process and human rights.
