1. Context

Switzerland is taking part in the activities of the OECD in the road domain and contributes to the development and to the dissemination of the information contained in the IRRD (International Road Research Documentation) database in particular.
Actually, this database contains more than 200 ' 000 references. It represents the first source of information on the status of ongoing researches as well as on achieved research projects.
Since 1980, LAVOC is managing the IRRD database in the road domain. Other specific domains like traffic and transport, accidents and vehicle studies are managed by the Federal Police Office.

2. Requirement

Research carried out in Switzerland are of interest for those involved in the road technique, as well the decision-makers and the researchers.
Furthermore, the directives of the Federal Highway Administration (ASTRA) on the assignment of research projects specify that each applicant makes a full inquiry on the state of knowledge in the related domain by consulting the IRRD database.

1. Contexte

La Suisse participe aux activités de l'OCDE dans le domaine routier et en particulier contribue au développement et à la diffusion de la DIRR (Documentation Internationale de Recherche Routière).

Aujourd'hui, cette base de données documentaires contient plus de 200'000 références. Elle représente la première source d'informations sur l'état d'avancement des projets de recherche en cours et donne les références pour accéder aux résultats des recherches achevées.

Depuis 1980, le LAVOC gère la DIRR pour le domaine routier. Les domaines spécifiques de la circulation et du transport, de l'étude des accidents et du véhicule sont du ressort de l'Office fédéral de la Police.

2. Nécessité

Les recherches menées en Suisse sont de nature à intéresser l'ensemble des acteurs de la technique routière, aussi bien le décideur que le chercheur.

De plus, les directives de l'OFR sur l'attribution de mandats de recherche spécifient que le demandeur s'informe complètement de l'état des connaissances dans le domaine et donc consulte la DIRR.
