Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Anglais)
This COST-D24 working group consisted of nine EU and two Swiss research groups working together in a search for ensembles of modularly prepared, highly efficient and selective catalysts for the atom economical preparation of chiral building blocks. In addition to catalyst discovery and new applications, mechanistic studies were carried out. Our group at the University of Basel has developed a series of new modular chiral P,N-ligands containing a pyridine, quinoline, oxazoline or imidazoline ring as a coordinating unit. A series of new ligands were prepared and tested in Ir-catalyzed hydrogenations, allylic substitutions, and Pauson-Khand reactions. Bicyclic pyridine-derived ligands gave particularly promising results in asymmetric hydrogenations. Iridium complexes of these ligands proved to be the first catalysts, which gave excellent enantioselectivities in the hydrogenation of unfuctionalized purely alkyl-substituted olefins. In addition, we have developed a new class of boron-bridged bisoxazoline ligands. Several ligands were supplied to our partners in the working group, who examined their potential for other enantioselective transition metal-catalyzed processes and cacscade reactions.
