The main objectives of COST 284 are to progress and innovate in the areas of theoretical antenna modelling, design software and multi-disciplinary concurrent antenna engineering. The focus is on a series of selected topics, including novel antenna architectures, conformal and planar arrays, active and adaptive antennas and their beam forming. These require a joint and pluridisciplinary effort on subjects like: multi-frequency radiating elements technologies, millimetre wave antennas, integrated and active modules, antenna signal processing and integrated advanced measurement techniques. Furthermore, the Action aims at fostering University-Industry research cooperation and tries to increase the number of trainees and doctorate candidates placed in industrial laboratories. Finally, COST-284 has consolidated and expanded a network of European specialists on antennas from academia and industry, in coordination with other relevant COST Actions, with the EC framework programmes and with ESA.
