Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Anglais)
The EDITH consortium possesses unique training capabilities in all fields related to Information technology (IT), starting from microelectronics manufacturing process (DUT, CEA-LETI, IMEC), to device modelling (UB-ARCES, INPG) and- circuit and systems design (UB-ARCES, DUT, SCD-K.U.Leuven), and from signal processing, wireless, ad-hoc, and computer communications, and nonlinear dynamics and complexity (UB-ARCES, EPFL-I&C, SCD-K.U.Leuven) to high level applications (UB-ARCES, EPFL). Exploiting the research and teaching excellence in the above fields in a fully synergetic way, the doctorate aims at providing doctoral training programs for students coming mainly from (but not limited to) European countries in highly qualified Institutions. More specifically, the aims of the Doctorate program may be summarized as follows:
1. To broaden the spectrum and breadth of competence of young researchers in the field of IT.
2. To give them research skills necessary to obtain specialist knowledge of subjects pertaining to IT.
3. To provide them the ability to use logical and lateral thinking needed to achieve creative and innovative solutions to engineering problems.
4. To bring together the unique research and teaching features of highly qualified European University and Research Centres with complementary expertise working in the fields of Electronics, Information and Communication Technologies.
5. To create a link between academic and industrial bodies in Europe.
The final goal of the EDITH programme is to set up the basis for creating the first European PhD program in Information Technology, which is formally recognized by the consortium member States.
