Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Anglais)
The Microsystems platform for MObile Services and Applications (MIMOSA) is a proposal for an integrated project by a strong and synergetic consortium gathering large industrial partners, SMEs, research organizations and universities throughout Europe. MIMOSA creates a new open platform for context-aware mobile services and applications. The approach is mobile phone based, thus providing the users with a smooth transition from current mobile services to ambient intelligence services. In the area of short-range connectivity, MIMOSA positions itself within the low-cost and low bit-rate territory that can be set up with relatively modest investments in the infrastructure. At the same time, however, a wide range of consumer applications is covered.
The MIMOSA project mainly focuses on the development of novel low-power microsystems to create the MIMOSA platform. MIMOSA develops, in particular, wireless sensors exploiting the RHD technology, highly integrated short-range radios, advanced integration technology, and novel MEMS sensors for context sensitivity and intuitive, user-friendly interfaces. These are the key building blocks to create the vision of Interactive Intelligent Emotional Environments.
By creating an open interface for various microsystems, MIMOSA provides a fruitful soil for growth also for the microsystems industry and for the micro/nano-technologies and thus further supports the strong competitive edge of European industry.
To demonstrate the generic characteristics of the proposed platform, MIMOSA develops specific applications with particular emphasis on physical browsing, health monitoring, intelligent housing, fitness/sports, context awareness for ambient intelligence and intuitive user interfaces. The defined approach and results will be disseminated and will lead to innovation in other application domains.
