Das Hauptziel des Projekts ist die Entwicklung einer Methodik, welche eine standardisierte Erhebung & Beurteilung der Verletzlichkeit landwirtschaftlicher Betriebe gegenüber sich verändernden Rahmenbedingungen erlaubt. Das hier vorgestellte Projekt ist ein Teilprojekt des Gesamtprojekts RISE/c-RISE der Schweizerischen Hochschule für Landwirtschaft (SHL), das zur Verbesserung der Nachhaltigkeit der landwirtschaftlichen Produktion auf Betriebsebene (sowie zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt gesamter Lieferketten) auf individueller, regionaler und globaler Ebene beitragen soll. Das Projekt entwickelt ein Werkzeug, welches Schwächen und Risken (wie auch Stärken) bezüglich Nachhaltigkeit aufzeigt und durch einen Massnahmen-orientierten Ansatz Betriebsleitern und Supply-Chain Managern Hinweise zur Verbesserung von Nachhaltigkeit und Risikomanagement liefert.

The main project objective is to elaborate a methodology that allows for a standardized evaluation of the vulnerability of a farm enterprise to risks borne by changing framework conditions. This particular project represents a sub-project of the RISE/c-RISE project carried out by the Swiss College of Agriculture (SHL), which aims at contributing to increased sustainability of production and supply of agricultural products. The project proposed here shall contribute to the main project's objective of developing and applying a methodology that allows for an assessment of the degree of sustainability and the identification of key constraints to sustainable production (at farm level) and supply (from farm to factory gate) of agricultural products by addressing weaknesses and risks effectively. The response-inducing approach followed by the project shall lead farmers and supply chain managers to suggestions for improving sustainability and risk management.

1. Identifizierung und Priorisierung von potentiellen Risiken für eine nachhaltige Produktion auf landwirtschaftlichen Betrieben, verursacht durch Veränderungen der Rahmenbedingungen.
2 .Entwicklung einer Methodik, welche die Relevanz verschiedener Risiken entsprechend dem Betriebstyp (und eventuell der Lieferkette) gewichtet und gleichzeitig entsprechende Massnahmen zur Anpassung aufzeigt.
3. Entwicklung von Indikatoren, welche solche Risiken beurteilen und mit den unternommenen Gegenmassnahmen verrechnen.
4. Entwicklung eines Fragebogens, der eine Einschätzung des Risikobewusstseins des Betriebsleiters und seines Risikomanagements erlaubt.
5. Die Risiko-/Verwundbarkeitsanalyse wird in den Fragebogen, das Computerprogramm und den Standard-Output des RISE-Modells möglichst bedienerfreundlich und attraktiv integriert.

Objectifs du projet

1. Potential risks to sustainability of agricultural production originating in general framework conditions are identified and prioritized through literature review, interviews with relevant parties, and expert consultations.
2 Adequate mechanisms for adaptation to risks and changes relating to framework conditions are identified while the methodology will automatically weigh relevance of the issues for various entities and supply chains.
3. Development of indicators to measure risks originating from the framework conditions while considering preventive measures taken by the farm management.
4. A questionnaire allowing for the assessment of the farm manager's awareness and preparedness to cope with these risks is elaborated.
5. The vulnerability assessment module is integrated in the computer program of the RISE model and a meaningful and attractive output and presentation of the results is developed.

RISE (inklusive Risikomanagement-Modul) steht ab Mitte 2005 zur Massnahmen-orientierten Nachhaltigkeitsanalyse von Landwirtschaftsbetrieben an der SHL zur Verfügung. Das Werkzeug ist global anwendbar und erlaubt auch den Vergleich verschiedener Betriebe und Systeme sowie eine Beurteilung der Entwicklung über die Zeit. RISE (including the risk management module) will be available for sustainability assessment of agricultural enterprises from mid 2005 through the Swiss College of Agriculture. The tool is globally applicable and also allows for comparative sustainability evaluations of farms and benchmarking over time.
