Short description (English)

To optimise the strategy for maintaining structures in the national road network, a software program that assists with the planning of interventions is necessary (KUBA-MS). The financial resources allocated for maintenance must be employed in an optimal manner in order to assure maximal use of the network. The results of the software program depend on the quality of the technical and economic models used. As of today the economic models have been well studied. The technical models, however, have not yet been treated in a satisfactory manner.

A synthesis of different studies on damage types, their mechanisms and their evolution, will be used to obtain degradation curves with respect to time and to determine the dominant parameters that describe the condition state of various structural elements. While studying the interaction between these elements, a model of the evolution of the condition state of the complete structures will be developed. This model will be formulated so that it can be integrated into a software program.

The model developed will be tested by applying it to existing structures, conducting a sensitivity analysis of the parameters and comparing the actual condition state of the structures, based on reliable past data, with the condition state evolution predicted by the model.

Pour optimiser la stratégie de l'entretien des ouvrages d'art du réseau des routes nationales, un programme informatique de la planification des mesures d'entretien est nécessaire (KUBA--MS). Les moyens financiers attribués pour l'entretien doivent être employés de manière optimale pour assurer une exploitation fiable du réseau. Les résultats du programme dépendent de la qualité des modèles techniques et économiques qu'il contient. Alors qu'actuellement les aspects économiques ont été bien étudiés, les aspects techniques n'ont pas encore été traités de manière satisfaisante.

Un important travail de synthèse, entre les différentes recherches concernant les dégâts, leurs mécanismes et leurs évolutions, sera mené afin d'obtenir des courbes de dégradation et les paramètres prépondérants décrivant l'état des différents éléments des ouvrages. En' étudiant l'interaction entre ces éléments, un modèle de l'évolution de l'état des ouvrages dans leur ensemble sera développé. Ce modèle sera formulé afin de pouvoir être intégré dans un programme informatique.

Finalement, le modèle développé sera testé en l'appliquant à des ouvrages existants, en faisant une étude de sensibilité des paramètres et en pronostiquant l'état actuel d'ouvrages sur la base de données passées fiables.

The objective of this research is to create a complete model to predict the evolution of the condition state of concrete highway bridges based on solid technical considerations. The developed model may be integrated into a software program that determines intervention times.
