Walk21 ist eine internationale Konferenz, die jährlich jeweils in einer anderen Stadt (weltweit) stattfindet. Hauptthema der Konferenz ist der Fussverkehr.
2005 soll die Veranstaltung in Zürich durchgeführt werden. Mit anderen Bundesämter (ASTRA, BAG, BFE, BASPO) sowie dem Kanton und der Stadt Zürich ist das ARE an der Finanzierung der Konferenz beteiligt.

CITIES FOR PEOPLE will focus on research, case studies and experiences in the integration of walking policies into a wider context. Specifically the conference will focus on the day-to-day quality of life of citizens in the public spaces of cities and communities of all sizes.
