Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Anglais)
The Centre for Ultrafast Science and Biomedical Optics (CUSBO) is a facility within the field of lasers, optics and spectroscopy. Research is performed on ultrafast lasers, non-linear optics, high intensity laser-matter interactions, ultrafast processes in quantum confined materials, non-invasive optical characterisation of biological tissues and broad band fluorescence lifetime spectroscopy. CUSBO covers quite a broad range of activities of interdisciplinary nature, which rely on the most advanced technologies in the laser field. State of the art laser sources provide features such as pulse duration below 10 fs with either high peak power or wide tunability from the visible spectrum up to the soft X-ray region. These optical probes represent the frontier in the ultrafast technology. Time-resolved techniques can be applied to the field of biomedical optics, based on state of the art instrumentation for the non-invasive optical characterization of biological tissues. Time-resolved systems for broad band spectroscopy of diffusive media and time-gated techniques provide unique tools for studying absorption and scattering spectra of living tissues and for fluorescence lifetime imaging.
