Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Anglais)
This proposal aims to develop technology and understanding needed for warning where, when and with what effects large earthquakes will strike. The 'Iceland Natural Laboratory' with its intensive earth activity and high level monitoring system is the test area for the project. The unique data collected for the large, Ms=6.6, June 2000 earthquakes in the South Iceland seismic zone will be used to test and validate the results. Another base for the proposal are the results of the EC projects PRENLAB and PRENLAB-2 (1996-2000). The project aims at establishing methodology for improving probabilistic hazard assessment, time dependent hazard assessment and for short-term warnings, to be implemented for active warning service.
