Abstract
(Englisch)
The European deficit for rich protein raw materials for animal feeding is still very high: 75% of its needs are imported. Therefore there is a strong demand for home-produced, traceable and good quality protein crop. The GL-PRO concerted action aims at developing grain legume crop production in different regions through a better valorisation of available scientific tool and genetic materials and through the reinforcement and the networking of existing extension services of 6 European countries. This project is connected with the thematic network project 'PROLINK' and several other concerted actions and research programmes on grain legumes.

The demand for rich protein material, preferably home produced for a good traceability and safety, in much higher in the UE than the present production. Extensive research works, genetic breakthroughs and crop management techniques have been quite actives for the last 10 years for several grain legumes crops adapted to the EU. Those tools yet remain undervalorised since the economic channel of GL production and use in still under-developed and non-structured in most European region. So the main objective of this project is to contribute to the development of grain legume, ropes in different European regions to meet the demand through an efficient networking of existing extension services.
