Abstract (Englisch)

This AM intends at extending to DC countries and organisations the participation to the Interdev-NRM information network. InterDev is a mutualistic service, which has been originally developed with support of the IST thematic programme of the 5th Framework programme. It records and makes available concrete information on innovations at the grassroots level on sustainable development and Natural Resources Management (NRM). InterDev is made of data provided directly by the end-users of the database themselves. It provides fact sheets on effective sustainable uses of natural resources, which can be a valuable basis for NRM research and policymaking. The AM will make the database available to local African organisations for testing tools and methods to their own needs. It will facilitate a decentralised participation of these organisations.

The general objectives of the INTERDEV-NRM accompanying measure are two fold:
- To facilitate the scaling up of concrete and practical experiences of sustainable Natural Resources Management in the field, specially (but not exclusively) experiences that are supported by civil society organisations.
- To disseminate results to scientists (in terms of new questions to be considered by international research), decision-makers, professionals or other appropriate parties i n charge of defining policies or development projects.

The first specific objective of the INTERDEV-NRM/DC accompanying measure project is to develop an information system on Natural (environmental) Resources Management based on decentralised data input in which a number of south-based organisations are full partners. A second specific objective is to provide stakeholders active in NRM with information that combines scientific results with practical experience in the field.
