Abstract
(English)
The PABADIS' objective is to enable an innovative plug-and-participate-environment with scalable and context driven adaptability and flexibility from the ERP-System to the single machine control in single piece production plants. In the project the Java(TM)-based Jini(TM)-technologies will be combined with mobile and residential software agents. This will enable European industry to minimise time and expenditure related with setting up new machines or changing existing ones. Also new ways in job control emerge which replace conventional MES (manufacturing execution systems) and simultaneously enhance the efficiency (by demand flow technology) in processing and thus enabling the transition to a highly skilled labour force. A novel concept for MES based on software agents - enabled by a next generation PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) which contains a Java(tm) virtual machine together with communication means - will be put in action within a demonstrator. The project will employ an Industrial Reference Group in order to be tuned to imminent and emerging industry's needs.
