Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Anglais)
This proposal creates the European Virtual Institute for Gas Turbine Instrumentation (EVI-GTI) as called by the Growth-Dedicated Call 10/00 GROW 2000-7.2 topicIV.25 (EoI GEOI-1999-10108). EVI-GTI links 'Setting Up of Virtual Institutes' under 'Support to Research Infrastructure' to Key Action 4 New Perspectives in Aeronautics in particular Development of Critical Technology Platforms GROW 2000 4.6. The 16 partners of EVI-GTI span 4 market sectors from 8 EU members. EVI-GTI seeks funding for 3 years and presents a 5-year work plan. Years 4&5 are self-funded; the mechanisms for this are in the work plan. EVI-GTI does not seek to develop instrumentation but to initiate teaming arrangements and EU centres of excellence. Supporting EVI-GTI the EU will have a step response to the US challenge in Sensors and Sensor System technology and have raised the profile of EU competence in this critical market sector.
EVI-GTI objectives are: Increased market share in sales of gas-turbine engine products and services through the use of advanced instrumentation, diagnostics and sensors.
Increased sales of these instruments themselves by early identification of gaps in enabling technologies. Multi-discipline teaming arrangements and centres of excellence across Industry, Academia and SME's. A cohesive and enlarged resource base (both financial and technical) for the potential development and exploitation of Sensor Technology for use in other hazardous fluids and critical applications. Gas Turbine Instrumentation sector submissions to Industrial, national and EU Advisory Committees. The EU positioned in the forefront of this critical area. Dialogue with the US PIWG as an equal partner'. A sustainable and eventually a privately funded organisation for the prioritising and approval of proposals for Gas Turbine Instrumentation developments designed to enhance current and future engine products.
