The content of this proposal is to develop intermediate steps for the roll-to-roll fabrication of flexible, lightweight and cost effective CIGS based solar cells. Two novel approaches will be applied:
-Manufacturing of large cells (7x7cm2) on non-insulated steel foils without patterning. Instead, the TCO window will be modified by deposition of an additional metallic grid;
- Fabrication of very lightweight monolithically integrated modules of up to 30x30cm(2) by a 'substrate-lift-off' process using thin polymer Additionally large-area cells (5x5 cm(2)) on a polymer coated metal foil will demonstrate the compatibility of this lift-off technique for roll-to-roll manufacturing. The modules will be flexible contacted as well as encapsulated.
