Circumventing Product Toxicity - Development of a Novel Two-stage Production Process for the Antibiotic Gallidermin: Spatial and Temporal Separation of Biosynthesis and Activation
Abstract
(English)
We will investigate and develop a novel process concept for the production of gallidermin, a new type of antibiotic from Staphylococcus gallinarum with promising applications for treatment of systemic MRSA or topical Propionibacterium acne infections with a novel mode of action. Its high activity and the lack of resistance mechanisms require a completely new approach to make gallidermin production economical.
