Abstract
(English)
Our purpose is to develop methods that are suitable for analysing urbanisation processes which are occurring outside urban agglomerations. Our research is dealing with territorial patterns linked to modernity. (Where modernity has to be understood in relation to what Giddens describes as 'disembedding mechanisms'). It focuses on dynamics, morphology, and regulation mechanisms. The whole rationale refers to concepts such as Ascher's 'métapole', Sievert's 'Zwischenstadt', or Dubois-Taine and Chalas' 'Ville émergente'. Two case studies are almost completed by now. They are dealing with the 'Limmattal' inbetween Zürich and Baden, and the 'Région des Trois lacs' which is a kind of an outcome of the Swiss national exhibition Expo.02. Our final report will be ready by the end of September 04.
