Abstract
(English)
Markets for non-food crop products are emerging, but development is hampered by uncoordinated efforts, lack of sector structure & produce specifications. End users are often unaware of benefits of & opportunities for non-food products. There has been much 'science push' but market orientation is now the key to success in this sector. This project will characterise markets & specifications for primary produce as major targets, & ensure focused networking & information transfer to the whole industry.

The project will:
- disseminate information at meetings;
- assess potential for non-food crops in EU accessing/associated state extend a database of products from plants;
- verify market size/specification forn-on-food crop products & disserts on website & data sheets;
- extend existing on-food contacts;
- measure uptake of non-food crops.

Total market orientation is essential for successful development of non-food crop products.

Objectives for this project are to:
- extend interaction & dataflow in the industrial crops sector through an integrated network linking key individuals in industry, government & science;
- disseminate existing data characterising market opportunities for specific industrial crops/uses at national & EU level;
- identify opportunities in EU accessing/associate states, which will maximise efficiency of use of funding &effort between states.

In support of these objectives, I-M will:
- deliver 2 pan-European conferences & 4 regional seminars;
- publish 12 newsletters, 4 sets of specifications for industrial crops, 1 agronomy booklet;
- extend existing Intemetsite on crops, contacts & associated issues;
- link to EU & other networks.
