Many small to medium sized industrial companies could benefit of the emergence of MOEMS. However, most of them are not yet aware of their potential in terms of technical capabilities, lowering of costs, new functionalities or new opportunities of access to foundries. The objective of this network of MOEMS experts is the enhancement of the competitivity of European industry helping to introduce MOEMS in their systems. To reach this objective, the network has been extended to new partners in regard to the previous one, and specifically to partners from the former Eastern Europe to provide a better coverage of European industry. The partners will disseminate information, analyse market and technologies of MOEMS.
Objectives:
The objectives of this program are:
- To make small and medium sized European companies aware of what MOEMS are and what they can offer in terms of new functionalities, reliability and reducing of costs;
- To help introducing MOEMS at an industrial level in new markets segments;
- To make the access to available technologies easier;
- To promote the industrial value of the product development effort for MOEMS spent at the European level during the recent years;
- To spread the MOEMS technologies in the former Eastern Europe.
Work description:
This project is related with the continuation and the extension of the existing MOEMS Competence Centre (CC III in the frame of Europractice). It is devoted to enhance the dissemination of MOEMS know-how through the small and medium sized companies and to make easier their access to existing MOEMS technologies. This action will start on the basis of the work done by the previous network (IST-1999-13450) continuing with the same three institutes which already know the kind of work that has been done. The addition of an Italian institute is to increase the coverage of the network, and finally, two institutes of the former Eastern Europe will favour the access of the companies of these countries to MOEMS technologies. Different types of work will be launched including dissemination activities (websites, exhibitions, publications, seminars), expertises to help companies choosing the best technical and economical approach, feasibility or evaluation programs set-up, access to existing technologies or MOEMS providers, foundry services when needed.
Milestones:
The expected results are an increase of the number of potential MOEMS users, manufacturers and providers among the European companies with a better geographic repartition through Europe and Eastern Europe, new industrial projects concerning MOEMS applications and development and new industrial MOEMS based products.
