Abstract (German)

The network seeks to expose information of value to educational researchers, (and by extension, to policy-makers and practitioners), to present it optimally, to encourage its use, and to engage with researchers regarding their information needs. Network partners maintain services, which provide information of interest to educational researchers: use of the services in foreign countries is known to be low. The interests of researchers range over national boundaries and enquiries exclusively to local resources will not provide them with all appropriate information. Alongside other activities, the network seeks to promote better intelligence about what is available through its work on a multilingual internet resource catalogue.

During the first year of the project, the partners have begun work on the catalogue and have associated information about their respective activities on the internet. An internet-based input system incorporating the multilingual European Education Thesaurus has been created permitting the distant entry of information to a centrally maintained database. Guidelines have been produced for the creation of records and description of resources. A presentation on work-in-progress was made at the 2002 European Conference on Educational Research. The project has a Web site (http://www.perine.org) which contains information about, and hyperlinks to, the information services maintained by individual partners, to quarterly reports about each partner's activities, and to the results of surveys about use of the internet by educational researchers in network partner countries.
