Abstract
(Englisch)
More than 60% of the silicon feedstock which is used for the production of multi-cingots and wafers by the PV industry is lost as waste material in different forms and compositions. By an integrated approach of leading European PV producers, equipment manufacturers and research organisations, the ReSiCle project will establish innovative processes and industrial-level prototype equipment for the extraction and conditioning of the raw silicon from the waste, with the aim to re-inject this recycled silicon in the PV production cycle.

This project will - on a short term basis - contribute to lower the impact of continuously rising market prices for classical silicon feedstock. By this, the costs of PV energy generation will be securely stabilised at low levels of 1Euro/Wattpeak.
