Abstract
(Englisch)
The main role of ABB in the project is to design relevant test cases and later on participate in the evaluation of methods and control strategies developed by the other partners in the project.
The first of two 'official test' cases has been developed, along with detailed technical descriptions and a tutorial on voltage stability intended for people not already familiar with voltage control in power system. This first test case is still not realistic in terms of its size, but contains all the mechanisms that governs the dynamics of voltage stability. In the second test case that is to be developed during year two of the project, a power system of realistic size will be modelled along with disturbance scenarios. The power transmission case received a lot of interest and is under study by researchers from ETH Zürich, as well as Grenoble and Lund Universities.
Models are available as source code written in Modelica language as well as in compiled form for SIMULINK at the project webpage ( http://www.dii.unisi.it/~hybrid/cc/ ).
In addition, a simpler 'prelude' test case has been developed, that is primarily intended to be used to get acquainted with the internal mechanisms in the more complex test cases. This was necessary since most of the other participants have limited experience with the modelling and operation of power systems.
As a second activity are also working in close cooperation with the ETH Zürich on the development of a control algorithm for the test cases, based on the modelling of the power system as a mixed logical-dynamical system and the subsequent control design based on on-line optimisation and mixed-integer programming. Promising preliminary results have been obtained for the first test case and work will be continued on the more complex second test case during 2003.
