OBJECTIVES
The main goal of this project is to create an authoring tool set to make 3D Multi-users worlds realizations faster and easier, including scenery, interactivity, and publishing. The final development platform of Worlds Studio will enable a unified framework for the 3D creation and the interactivity addition, destined to be a solution to professional 3D shared environment content providers.
SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT
The aim of the project is to build an integrated environment for 3D virtual community content production.
Based on the long experience of VIRTOOLS in virtual community production and technology, on the 3D design experience of PLANB MEDIA, on the access and links to internet, TV media and real communities of BROADVIEW, and the great system integration know-how of EADS, the project will build a software package that provides the best solution for addressing the 3D virtual community development needs in Europe.
EPFL-VRLAB'S CONTRIBUTION
EPFL's has developed techniques to efficiently build 3D virtual worlds compliant with the new standards. Moreover, we have a good know-how concerning the commercial products used to build 3D environments and 3D avatar. In fact, EPFL's provide to the consortium its expertise in standardization organization by developing a special MPEG4 3D player and a production tools able to produce easily MPEG4-FBA content.
