Abstract
(English)
Reinforced concrete structures tied to corrosion resistant products like stainless: steels have been increasingly used in structural application, where further to good mechanical properties, it provides health compatibility and high durability. The scientific and technological approach (basically material-performance-based approach) cannot ignore the fact concerning the elevated costs of stainless steels. So, the main goal of this research programme is to obtain a low cost stainless steel, dissociate from some critical expensive elements, but able to protect the built environment (civil engineering works) against hazards resulting from corrosion damages, fire events and natural or man-made vibration sources. On the other hand this will be accomplished by lowering as much as possible the initial cost of stainless steel reinforcement.
