Abstract (Englisch)

The project aims to analyse subjective perceptions of, and individual reactions to socio-economic change focusing on employment and working conditions in Europe. The aim is to create original knowledge for the debate on flexibility and security in the European social model, and provide an empirical assessment of the extent to which changes in working life can be said to make people receptive to right-wing extremism/populism. The interdisciplinary and comparative investigation will cover eight countries; it will encompass literature reviews, secondary data analysis, primary qualitative and quantitative data collection, and workshops with social partners, NGOs and policy makers. On the basis of new insights in the subjective perceptions of and individual reactions to socio-economic change, policy recommendations will be developed for fine-tuning employment and social policies.
