Abstract
(English)
CT is a procedure with relative high radiation exposure of the patient and with large variations in exposures between hospitals. The objective of this project is to obtain insight and guidance for the clinical application of CT in European countries. Information will be collected with regard to CT technique and to patient dose in relation to a large variety of clinical problems. A European evaluation of image quality will be performed for a limited number of CT procedures. New insights will be incorporated in the revision of European Quality Criteria for CT. New data for calculating effective doses for new types of CT scanners will be provided. Assessment of patient dose is stimulated by publication of a database on the Internet.
