Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Anglais)
When the cost action 821 then 838 started, the word Mycorrhiza was only known by a few specialists. Root microbe interactions of many plants was known but not really accepted as crucial event to research about sustainability in any ecosystem. Very loose contacts were established between scientists in Europe and in the world. Today the situation is very different. Quasi in all research institutions one can find a group working with Mycorrhiza in respect to environmental protection, to sustainable agriculture, to microbiology and biotechnology and to Molecular biology and genetics. International (IBG) and European (BEG) banks of glomales have been established. Workshops and training courses are regularly offered and scientific meetings bring the scattered scientists together. Mobility among the students and the staff members between different European institutions has developed and is today a common event. Private companies and start-ups were created in such a way that mycorrhizal fungi became economically and politically interesting. All these activities and structurisations have been catalyzed by the Cost Action 838. The excellent organisation of Cost Action 838 on the European and national levels made it easy that every participant could find what he needed and he participated to the progress of knowledge in this field. Cost actions are the most efficient instruments to collect new ideas at different places, to bring them together and let them develop to become an European scientific collaboration with the national and European administrations. Research activities about 'managing arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi for improving soil quality and plant health in agriculture' are going on worldwide.
