Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Anglais)
Industrial drying of lacquered or stained surfaces is an energy-intensive process. The performance of drying tunnels can be improved considerably by using radiative heat in place of convective heat. Best performance can be achieved by using gas-heated catalytic burners. Such developments give the possibility for substituting the solvent-containing lacquers by environmentally harmless water-based products. Catalytic panels with metallic, fibrous or spongy structures will be developed. Premixed gas burners with secondary air injection and an adjusted, highly flexible drying tunnel will be conceived, built and tested. Drying tests will be performed for determining the energy saving which can be realised with this technology and for studying the possibility of reducing the solvent content of the lacquers and stains used, while maintaining the high quality required for the coated wooden surfaces.
