Abstract (Englisch)

The main objectives are to:
1) Systematically develop a new generation of equipment suitable for small, low head hydro power plants (HPP) with P< 1 MW;
2) Satisfy the three fundamental criteria of performance, simplicity and reliability;
3) Validate, in the laboratory, the hydraulic concept of a small, low head turbine (Kaplan);
4) Industrialize the concept of small, compact, low head units resulting from laboratory development of small low head turbines;
5) Validate laboratory/industry transfer by the start up of two demonstration sites;
6) Allow standards product methods to be dropped in favour of the systematic product method, at identical or lower prices;
7) reduce construction and maintenance costs;L%8) Increase the financial returns of small, low head HPP;
9) Optimise the use of hydro resources whilst respecting environmental constraints.
