Bioactive TISSUPOR Wound Pads - BIOPAD
Abstract
(English)
By combining innovative technologies and procedures, the BIOPAD project attempts to specifically customize wound pads marketed by TISSUPOR. TISSUPOR wound pads beneficially support tissue growth when left for several days in contact with the wound. Successful wound treatment requires assurance for suppression of bacterial growth. Moreover, reduction of the tight adherence of wound tissue may significantly reduce pain, when the pad needs to be exchanged. Both facets are approached by functionalizing the textile with biochemical and inorganic agents, and by passivation of the textile with molecular species that suppress intimate cell attachment to material surfaces. Novel product lines may evolve by applying carbene chemistries for textile functionalization with biomolecules, as well as sputtering ultra thin-film bacteriostatic metal onto textile materials. The project aims at the establishment of production protocols for bioactive and biocompatible TISSUPOR wound pads. It shall lead to the production of demonstrator series. Pilot product validation steps will be initialized. All through the project, product development will receive advice from medical care centers.
