CoBRA+ is a concerted actions of European national libraries funded by the Telematics Program of the EU. It aims to discuss issues and identify actions needed to promote R and D work which will stimulate resrouce sharing and service developments at a Eurpean level.

Objectifs du projet (Anglais)

The key objectives of CoBRA+ are to
disseminate informations about the progress of ongoing and new projetcs and to develop and promote exploitations plans for the results of studies and projects.
examine the problems of national libraries in the areas of legal deposit, collection development, user access to and long term availability of electronic publications
promote resource sharing by provision of information services and access to collections through the use of networks
examine bibliographic control and associated access and exchange issues including the use of Metadata for electronic ressources
Investigate future collaborative frameworks and strategies to insure the momentum established through the CoBRA+ initiatives is maintained and strengthened, particularly with respect to the cultural and heritage role of national libraries in the digital environment.

Résumé des résultats (Abstract) (Anglais)

CoBRA+ is a concerted action in the sector of the Telematics for libraries program. It comprises a forum or steering group of national libraries. Issues and technical work are identified and dealt with through two task groups dealing with Metadata and cataloguing issues and with digital and electronic collections.

Mise en oeuvre et application (Anglais)

CoBRA+'s goal is to launch ideas and dicussions for projects. It has promoted projetcs in differente areas, notably in the field of acquisition and storage of electronic publications and networked multinlingual subjects access. It has promoted a common Z 39.50 profile for national libraries.
