Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Anglais)
The overall objective of this cluster is to contribute to the development of preventive and therapeutic vaccines against hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. For this objective an in depth understanding of protective antiviral immune response s is essential by acquiring knowledge on mechanisms associated with HCV replication, assembly and fundamental knowledge on HCV specific immune responses in natural infections. A key element in the development of a vaccine is the choice of a delivery system capable to induce a humoral and/or a cellular-mediated protective immune response. The networks in this cluster proposal have strong, worldwide-recognized expertise and have all parameters to monitor the planned analysis from fundamental in vitro studies to the evaluation of vaccine candidates in non-human primates. The basic strength of the Cluster is to re-unite expertise and unique systems that will allow a solid basis for the definition of clinical trials.
