Consortium Meetings
Two Consortium meetings have been held in the second reporting period: The first in Brighton in December 01, the second in Eindhoven in June, this was the midterm-review for the GREENSPACE project. In addition, one meeting was held between the Contractors ETHZ and UHOH in Zürich and one other meeting between the Contractors ETHZ and UNIS in Surrey.
Co-operation
ETHZ has been working with representatives of the municipal authorities: the director of the survey department (Vermessungsamt), the director of the forest department (Waldamt) and the responsible planner of the Horticulture department (Grün Stadt Zürich).

Visualization (WP6)
The visual representation of the case study Käferberg is completed. The Campus ETH Hönggerberg and the farmhouses are modelled and visualised in detail with textured facades. For a precise representation of the existing vegetation trees and shrubs are surveyed, mapped and photographed in the Field. Consequently, a texture library consisting of woody vegetation is established. In addition, for the farmhouses and also for the livestock geo-specific textures are used.
The visual representation of the case study site Platzspitz is completed as well. The Visualization approach for this park provides a data based digital representation, combining Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Computer Aided Drawing models (CAD).
So far, at Zürichhorn the terrain and all texture mapped buildings are completed.
Overall, good progress has been made in developing static and real-time visuals for selected green spaces in Zürich.
Survey (WP4)
The survey for ETHZ is conducted as a combined use of choice experimental methods and visualisation.
For the Käferberg case study site the survey was prepared in paper format and as an online-web-version. The paperbased survey was used in the field as well as in cooperation with the `Quartiervereine' Höngg, Wipkingen and Affoltern. The on-line version was published in local newspapers and the Neue Züricher Zeitung:
http://stadtlandschaft.ethz.ch/. For the case study site Platzspitz the survey design is completed.
